Rep. Burnett attempts to protect the people’s ability to possess pocket and utility knives.
Rep. Brian Burnett offers an amendment to SB 5098. The bill seeks to restrict the possession of weapons at parks, county fairs, and state or local public buildings. His amendment would exempt pocket and utility knives from this restriction. Democrats on the committee voted it down. Burnett voted against the bill. He is an ardent supporter of the Second Amendment and all that it stands for. He believes in a citizen’s right to protect themselves, their loved ones, and their property. Burnett is a former county sheriff and law enforcement officer. He has seen and experienced firsthand what can happen when individuals do not have the tools necessary to protect themselves. SB 5098 will make it less safe for the public while making it easier for opportunistic criminals to take advantage of defenseless citizens.
