Radio: Reps. Brian Burnett and Alex Ybarra reflect on 2026 battles and taxes on Chelan’s KOZI Radio, and what comes next

Rep. Brian Burnett, R-Wenatchee, joins KOZI Radio morning host Jeff Conwell for a final legislative update on the 2026 session, discussing the pace of the 60-day session, long Appropriations Committee hearings, and the record-setting 24-and-a-half-hour House floor debate over the income tax bill. Burnett also talks about the frustration of seeing bipartisan bills stall in the Senate while what he considers ineffective policy continued to advance.

Rep. Alex Ybarra, R-Quincy, joins the interview in progress to talk about major disappointments from the session, including the income tax and data center bills, while also pointing to bipartisan work on energy policy. Together, Burnett and Ybarra discuss affordability, taxes, budget concerns, education funding, and the challenge of keeping state spending on a sustainable path heading into next year’s session.
