About Rep. Brian Burnett

Brian is serving his first term as the representative for the 12th District, which includes Chelan County and parts of Snohomish and King counties. His legislative priorities are to:

  • Protect public safety by supporting law enforcement that enhances community safety
  • Defend private property rights
  • Reduce taxes and rein in government spending
  • Stand up for families, parents, and constitutional freedoms
  • Protect victims and combat human trafficking

Before coming to Olympia, Brian spent more than 25 years in law enforcement, including 12 years as Chelan County’s elected Sheriff. His steady hand while leading local communities through wildfires, floods, and public safety crises has allowed him to bring a wealth of experience to his new role as a state legislator.

Brian has served as the president of the Washington Association of Sheriffs and Police Chiefs and the Washington State Sheriffs’ Association. He has also been a commissioner for the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission, appointed by the Governor. He currently serves as the Director of Law Enforcement Services for Seattle’s Finest Security and Traffic Control and as the administrative liaison for the Washington State Sheriffs’ Association.

Brian serves on the Civil Rights and Judiciary, Community Safety, Early Learning and Human Services, and Appropriations committees, and is the Assistant Republican Whip.

He has been appointed to several interim statutory committees, including the Correctional Industries Advisory Committee, Public Defense Advisory Committee, Substance Use Recovery Services Advisory Committee, and the Washington State Task Force Against the Trafficking of Persons.

At home, Brian’s greatest pride is his family. He and his wife, April, have been married 38 years, raised seven children in Wenatchee, and are now grandparents to 13 (and counting).
